Asian/ Pacific Islander affinity group to get together and have fun, in addition to holding cultural celebrations and other related activities and discussions.

Gender and Sexuality Alliance is a space for LGBTQ+ students and allies to discuss issues facing the community, organize pride, educational, and awareness events, and eat snacks in a safe and welcoming environment.

A club where anyone can learn about Judaism, Jewish values, discuss Jewish history, debate current events and philosophy. Each club meet we will be discussing a different topic ranging from the bystander effect to biblical contradictions.

Our main goal is to bring more representation to the Latino community at Nueva. We organize events and discuss different topics while eating good food. Overall, we want to provide a space for Latinos at Nueva while bringing our traditions and stories to the rest of the Nueva community.  This club is open to all.

A place for Muslim students to share their perspectives and learn more about the religion together. The goal of this club is to boost the reputation of Islam through events and outreach.

A space for trans and gender-questioning folks to hang out and get help with trans-related matters.

If you are a Nueva student who wants to fight for your right to breathe clean air, believes in the power of student voices, and wants to do something about our climate crisis, the Climate Action Team is the club for you. We look for and organize opportunities to protest, fundraise, advocate for policy, and raise awareness, such as the climate change walkout on September 20th. Inactivity does not come at the cost of a burning earth; instead, seas will rise, food will wither, and people will starve. We are the first generation to see the devastating effects of climate change, and we are the last generation that has a chance to do something about it.

What does it mean to be a feminist? How does feminism present itself at Nueva? And in the world? In feminism club, we provide an open space to discuss these topics, watch related films, deliberate current events, and plan feminism-related activities (otherwise known as "Feminist Fridays) that are accessible to the whole community. Feminism club culminates in the annual feminism conference organized entirely by the club members! We research speakers, reach out to them, organize the logistics, and collectively host the conference, which is usually in the spring. Whether you consider yourself an active feminist or not, we encourage you to join—this club is a lot of fun. And we have snacks at our meetings (sometimes).

The Nueva Environmental Society is a place for all students interested in any form of environmentalism to learn more about what they're interested in and organize events that they're passionate about. This year, we will be gardening, organizing lectures, reading books and scientific articles, organizing campus-wide initiatives, and more. We are open to all commitment levels and interest areas. The best social justice club on campus (and the oldest). We discuss issues facing the Nueva community and then fight to solve them.

The STEMinism Club provides a safe space for students to learn and feel comfortable with failure, support each other, and run events to promote and educate others about STEMinism. It works to empower women in STEM and inspire inclusion and discussion about female participation in these fields. And also eat food. The club is also a resource for STEM events and a place to find role models.

Team HBV is a fun and laid-back community service-focused club. We work on projects to inform Nueva and local communities about Hepatitis B, a pervasive disease that especially affects the Bay Area's Asian American and Pacific Islander population. Visit or follow us on Insta !

The babysitting club will link parents at the lower school to students at the upper school who would be interested in helping out the community by offering to babysit. It's pretty straightforward, there probably won't be any meetings, I'll just shoot all club members an e-mail when a teacher or parent reaches out and the first to respond will be linked with the adult to discuss times, locations, and rates.

We organize community service initiatives for both the entire school and just the club members. Through fundraisers and activities, we try to enact both a local and international impact. At the end of the year, we take a trip to Los Angeles to attend WE Day!

"Curieus (curieus.org) is a non-profit organization run by high school students. It aims to make STEM concepts more accessible to children from underrepresented communities, thus sparking a lifelong curiosity and love of science and empowering them to become the changemakers of the future through science and technology. 

The goal of the club is to organize after-school or weekend workshops and classes for elementary school students. Club time will be used every month or so to craft and review the programs run through the Nueva chapter. Programs include both workshops at libraries and after-school classes for students participating in programming with partner organizations. 

Invention Studio is a club where teams design and build products for social impact. Teams have designed for everyone from blind individuals to English language learners. Our goals include making a difference in our communities, giving members the skills needed to make a difference, and empowering others using human-centered-design.

The purpose of the Nueva Spirit Club is to promote school spirit and pride throughout our student community. For our inaugural year, our Club’s goal is to encourage students to get involved in our sporting events by attending and cheering on our teams. In future years, we may expand to include spirit-building activities beyond the sports field or court.

We are looking for enthusiastic students who would like to promote school spirit and cultivate positive vibes throughout Nueva! Students will get to lead, plan and participate in Spirit events throughout the year such as theme days for home games and other exciting events. Spirit Club is for everyone! Come join the fun! The goal of Nueva’s peer consultancy program is to provide an educational and practical experience to students interested in providing peer support, and to provide peer assistance to students facing social and academic challenges. This program strives to increase connectedness to peers and to increase feelings of competence and self-efficacy. Peer Consultants lead group conversations, one-on-one consulting, and positive mental health programming. Annually, in May, students in 10th through 12th grade will have an opportunity to apply to become a peer consultant which includes participation in a mandatory training course. All Nueva students are invited to participate in the ongoing programming of the group which will be advertised throughout the year.

Spirit and social is the spirit and social representative’s committee and we meet once a week to plan all of the fun grade wide or school wide events (like prom, bonfires, movie nights, and formal). 

The TEDx Club organizes the annual TEDxYouth@TheNuevaSchool conference, which showcases a variety of speakers from different fields. As a club, we focus on connecting with potential speakers, publicizing the event, and planning all the logistics to have a successful conference. The club is divided into different sub-teams, so each person can focus on an area of their interest.

The Nueva Kindness Club works to bring joy to members of the Nueva community through acts of kindness. We encourage our members to be aware of the needs of others and to make kindness a habitual part of their lives.

Board game club is exactly what it sounds like: a club devoted to playing board games. We meet to play a variety of board games, including but not limited to: One Night Ultimate Werewolf, Blood on the Clocktower, Codenames, Coup, Avalon, and Human Punishment. We will typically play shorter games (because of limited time), but depending on interest the club may also run after school to play longer games (1.5–5 hours) a few times a month. If you plan on attending, feel free to suggest/bring new board games for the club to play.

Come and learn the rules of chess, play blitz or bughouse, or practice for tournaments with puzzles and longer games. Attendance is not mandatory, show up when you can! 

Welcome to the fantastical world of Dungeons and Dragons! Prepare to don the helm of a great adventurer and embark on an epic adventure through the magical world of Farranoth. 

It's the D&D Club! Role play as whatever strange creature you want and join the campaign (or just smash some enemies, whatever suits your fancy). Come regardless of whether you know how to play!

A casual space where anyone can play the trading card game Magic: the Gathering. We play all sorts of formats including Commander, Modern, and Standard, and are hoping to organize some drafts this year. Beginners welcome; we have plenty of starter decks and resources to teach people how to play. Feel free to come in any time!

Do you love Marvel? Do you love movies? Do you love not doing anything productive doing lunch and tutorial? Join us in Marvel Club to watch marvel movies, discuss your favorite and least favorite things in Marvel, and overall spend time with others who appreciate this decades-old comic and movie line that has become a staple of pop culture.

Ever wanted to dive into the world of meat? Well with this club you can! Exclusive to meat-loving people, this club is intended for people who want to grow their knowledge and cultivate their taste buds to appreciate the finer quality meat in life. In this club you explore the origins of meat, and try different cuts of meat around the world.

Model United Nations (MUN) is a fun and engaging club where we discuss myriad of issues from the perspective of a country or person. Topics in MUN conferences have ranged from “Avatar: The Last Airbender” to “Nuclear Proliferation in North Korea.” Every single topic of interest can be found in at least one committee during conferences. The club is geared towards members with all levels of experience and offers fun training exercises during lunch to prepare for upcoming conferences. Many members of the club from previous years had no experience before joining. Additionally, MUN club hosts Current Affairs Friday where club members facilitate presentations (open to the entire Upper School) on topics of interest. We plan on participating in at least two conferences a year hosted by nearby colleges and high schools.

The Model United Nations (MUN) team trains delegates, organizes conference logistics, and is in the process of building their inaugural Nueva MUN Conference. The club teaches beginner delegates the basics of MUN and work together with the most advanced.

The MUN team attends 3–4 conferences per school year, depending on interest and available funds; historically, these have included Gunn High School (in Palo Alto), Santa Clara Valley, Berkeley, and the National High School conference.

For the MUN club’s inaugural conference, members have partnered with DTech High School MUN and centered our committees around the theme of Mars Colonization. The Nueva MUN Conference will take place on January 23–24 2021, in-person or virtually.

The Anime Club is a fun and relaxed space for people who like anime to discuss their interests.  We will have a variety of meeting types that include watching anime, discussing any specific anime and discussing anime and the fan culture around it. 

We have fun playing Trivial Pursuit and learning about wacky new trivia topics!

Le Ballon Rouge, Le Petit Nicolas, croissants, the Large Hadron Collider, real French classes...the list goes on. Come explore the cuisine, cinema, science, literature, and language of France and French-speaking countries!

Have you always wanted to learn American Sign Language and be able to communicate without speaking? In this club we will work together to learn ASL through songs and other recourses!

Spanish Club! We're going to do fun spanish things, open to suggestions. Some examples include movies, games, and more.

We play badminton. Meeting times will likely during lunch/tutorial, and before/after school around two times a week. Currently, we're looking to start a club with a goal of creating a school team.

Join us in the gym for our rock climbing club. Climbing is a fun, unique, and challenging sport that combines strength, strategy, and perseverance. No experience necessary!

Join us in the weight room for some anaerobic exercise. At least some of the benefits of weightlifting are: Reduce stress, improve mood, decrease tension, improve self-esteem, improve self-image, and release endorphins. All are welcome, regardless of previous exposure to weight training. 

The egg dropping club focuses on design engineering based around creating a device or structure focused on preventing eggs dropped from a fixed height from breaking. This involves challenges and constraints of varying difficulty, such as an inability to use adhesives, dropping two eggs and having only one breaking, or time/material constraints. Club members forms groups and participate in competitions based on who can create the most effective device for each challenge. The club hopes to, and is currently working to, expand into competing with other schools during the school year, but no definitive interscholastic structure currently exists.

Future Problem Solving is a competitive team-based program in which students tackle near-future scenarios with a six-step process. Practices involve learning and honing said process and practicing for bowls; the bowls themselves are two hours long and allow your team to demonstrate your ability to apply the six-step process. Returning and new participants are all welcome!

Topics for 2019–20 included international travel, sleep patterns, and gamification.

LiMPETS is a long-term monitoring program and experiential training for students. The goals for the program are to provide students with hands-on fieldwork experience, data analysis, and research as well as leadership opportunities within the club. While the monitoring events will be open to all Nueva students, the program will be run by a core of program leaders that attend all 2-3 monitoring events during the year, and meet weekly to enter, analyze, and eventually present the results. Before monitoring events, students will learn the data collection techniques, as well as practice identifying the 27 groups of algae and invertebrates monitored in the program.

Flying things (rockets, drones, airplanes) are super cool! Building those things is even cooler. Join the model aviation club for the opportunity to work on various flying things with a group of supportive, fun people! This is a first-year club so there will be no agenda besides having fun, doing what we want, and learning as much as possible! Topics you can learn include foam building, laser cutting, 3D printing, electronics, computer aided design, and rapid prototyping. 

The math club serves to promote and develop math talent through competitions and guest talks.

The NuevaHacks leadership team is a group of inspired visionaries who work together on organizing Nueva's annual hackathon. On the organizing team, you get to learn and apply skills in professionally applicable areas like operations, fundraising, design, and marketing. In total, 8–12 people are selected on the NuevaHacks organizing team out of all the applications submitted.

This club is dedicated to studying the ecology of the redwood forest. We have a four-acre plot 18 minute from Bay Meadows that will be the primary base for forest visits. Emphasis will be on redwood growth rates, banana slug microbiome and mating behaviors, mountain lion ranges, camera trapping, natural water spring monitoring, and more. Collaborations with UCSC and Stanford Faculty will allow for ongoing research.

The robotics team, Team 4904: Bot Provoking, competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition, where we design, build, wire, and program a robot from scratch for a new challenge each year. In addition to the robot, there are also many opportunities to delve into business, STEM outreach and inclusion, fundraising, strategy, and more.

This club provides a space where students interested in comics and visual storytelling can get together to talk to others, learn new techniques, and pursue independent projects.

Classical music club is a low-stress and low-commitment place to rehearse and have fun. This is a judgement-free environment for anyone who appreciates listening to and/or wants to learn classical music. All skill levels welcome!

Ever wanted to learn how to DJ or produce music? The DJ club is a community where Nueva students can share there knowledge of music production and DJing, no experience necessary! We will hold workshops on making music with Ableton Live, as well as learning how to DJ using turntables and other equipment. Additionally, experienced members have the opportunity to DJ Nueva dances. Above all else, we'll be jamming and listening to good music!

Giving Nueva students performance opportunities around the bay area. Learn music, get performance venues, grow your audience base, and give back to the community with the musical outreach club.

The Nueva Notes is an a cappella group for females and female-identifying people. We are committed to displaying the work of female and non-binary artists through performance both within the Nueva community and in the world at large.

Paint, relax, and listen to music at watercolor club! You can come whenever you want and paint whatever you want with the materials provided. It is a space to just enjoy painting, but you can also come with specific skills you want to learn or paintings you want to make, and we are here to help!

Come craft and drink tea with us! Learn how to knit, crochet, embroider, finger knit, sew, and more and drink tea with us! Makers and tea drinkers of all levels welcome.

Join the creative writing critique club for monthly meetings to edit your writing with peers. All genres are welcome, from poetry to short fiction to memoir to chapters of long-form work. Whether you're trying creative writing for the first time or have finished work you want edited, critique club is a great place to get constructive criticism or to work through writer's block.

Inklings is a club focused on all things literature. Readings will include short stories, extracts of books and longer works, poetry, plays, and suggestions by club members. The goal is to explore and expand our understanding of literature together in a fun, relaxed setting.

The literary magazine publishes student work once a year. We focus primarily on short fiction, poetry, and artwork, and are open to many genres from students of any grade. Students who like writing, editing, and/or design get to create the magazine from scratch every year, with an emphasis on curation and a cohesive publication.
