Lower School Physical Education

Nueva's physical education program consists of individual and team-building activities that help students develop skills and confidence in a noncompetitive, nurturing environment. Teachers emphasize lifelong physical fitness, sportsmanship, and risk-taking through a wide range of activities. Lower School PE facilities include a multiuse blacktop court, a sports field, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, and a 25-foot climbing wall.

The program's primary goal is to establish a fun and imaginative atmosphere where students can experience success, acceptance, security, understanding, and self-respect through physical activities.

Prekindergarten and Kindergarten

Prekindergarten and kindergarten students are introduced to movement skills and health and fitness principles through dance and aerobic games.

Grades 1–4

Students in grades 1–4 learn the rules and strategies used for playing games. They refine specific motor skills and practice team spirit through sports including volleyball, flag football, basketball, hockey, soccer, and creative dance.

Throughout Nueva's Lower School PE program, students have the opportunity to build the physical and social-emotional skills they'll need to be successful in independent and team sports.
