FPO

Nueva’s athletics program has achieved great success in five short years as a PreK–12 school.

Our students pursue multiple passions, and, for many, representing Nueva as scholar-athletes is vital to their experience. Our participation is significant for such a young program: 64% of students in grades 4–8 and 50% of Upper School students participate in Nueva athletics.

Alternate Athletics Program

In order to fulfill their graduation requirement, students are required to participate in Physical Education two out of three seasons per year, for all four years of high school. Because we value interscholastic participation and recognize the commitment required, students can fulfill their yearly Physical Education requirement by participating in one season of an interscholastic Nueva sport.

Other options for fulfilling the requirement include after-school Nueva Physical Education classes or Outside Activity credit. Physical Education class options include yoga, sports conditioning, general conditioning, and weight training.

Additional offerings are based on student interest.

Middle School Athletics: Girls' Basketball and Boys' Soccer Win Championships

In an exciting come-from-behind victory, the JVA sixth-grade girls’ basketball team clinched the 2017 WBAL Gold-level championship on Thursday night, March 2.  Going into the game with rival Menlo School, the girls had only lost one game this season — to Menlo. Trailing for three of the four quarters, the Nueva girls pushed themselves to play their best, taking the lead halfway through the fourth quarter and never relinquishing it.

MS JV Girls' Soccer Team Wins WBAL Championship

The JV girls’ soccer team (MS) beat Sacred Heart 1-0 in near darkness on Monday night to clinch the West Bay Athletic League (WBAL) championship. Midway through the first half, sixth-grade striker Mia T. scored the winning goal with an assist by sixth-grade center midfielder Kayla H. The Nueva team, made up of fourth, fifth, and sixth graders, faced the league's sixth-grade teams in a division that included Sacred Heart Prep, Menlo, Harker, Castilleja, Girls Middle School, and Crystal Springs. This is Nueva's first girls’ soccer championship in the league.
