Lit Club

Founded in 1982, the Lit Club curriculum provides students in grades 2–8 with opportunities to practice reading strategies and literary analysis in small groups. Lit Clubs meet weekly for an hour with trained parent and teacher facilitators.

Children are encouraged to read for pleasure, to develop a love of literature, and to share this passion with others in focused discussion. Nueva's adult community can also discuss books through the Adult Lit Club, which meets monthly.

Without a large number of parent volunteers, Lit Club would be unable to offer this small-group experience to our Nueva students. Every volunteer counts! If you would like to participate, your training begins with a workshop called Grand Conversations that will help you develop, refine, and practice the skills needed to conduct literary discussions with children. During the school year, short morning sessions will continue to develop your skills and provide you with feedback and information about the curriculum, reading, and children's literature.
