The third 2017-2018 Math Circle will be held on Friday, April 27th

When: Friday, April 27, 2018

The Nueva School
Hillsborough Campus
6565 Skyline Blvd
Hillsborough, CA 94010

What: A fun math-filled afternoon

Nueva Math Circle is a joyful math enrichment event where guest mathematicians and math educators lead students from PreK-12th grade in intriguing math activities or investigations. Students also have the option to explore games and activities hosted in the I-Lab.

After a tremendous inaugural event at the Bay Meadows campus in February (featuring Machine Learning), we return to the Hillsborough campus on a beautiful Friday evening in April for our third & final event of the school year.

OUR APRIL FEATURED TOPIC: Game Theory for Middle School and Lower School students

At this Math Circle, we're excited to bring you sessions exploring a new featured topic: Game Theory, with a special focus this time on our Lower School and Middle School students. Ourpresenters include Patrick Berger, Upper and Middle School Economics and Model United Nations teacher at Nueva School. All sessions for students Grades 2 - 8 will feature Game Theory.

Coding with Osmo and Cubelets in the I-Labespecially for PK-1 students

We haven't forgotten about our PK-1 students! At this Math Circle, our sessions for PK-1 will feature fun-filled coding with Osmo. And in the I-Lab, students will enjoy the opportunity to build with more Cubelets (robotic cubes) than you've probably ever seen in one place!

To round out a fun-filled evening, pizza and snacks will be available for purchase. Back by popular demand, special dinner selections including Chinese meal boxes are also available for pre-order online during the ticket checkout process (a limited quantity of these special items may also be available for purchase at the event).

This is a community-wide event that is open to the public.

Please be advised that this is *not* a drop-off event for Lower School students. Parents are invited to join their child(ren) in the LS sessions.

Register before April 15 for special Early Bird Pricing. We strongly recommend registering ASAP as seats are limited and some sessions fill up quickly.

For Nueva Middle School students who are planning to attend MS Dance at 6:30pm on the same evening, we've made sure to time our sessions to accommodate you--

  • 5:00 - 5:45pm: Game Theory for 7th and 8th grades
  • 5:45 - 6:30pm: Game Theory for 5th and 6th grades
