Thank you to all of our lower school families who responded to this week’s survey! The information you provided was essential for helping us to advance our planning. Your questions and comments provided excellent ideas and identified topics we need to further develop and communicate. Many of the comments also conveyed excitement about the possibility of many students returning to on-campus learning once we have made the necessary preparations and have secured the appropriate approvals.
Many of you asked what school would look like if we reopened under a waiver. To that end, we would like to share our reopening plan for operating under a waiver. Here is a summary of the plan that highlights and contextualizes the changes from business-as-usual, and the full plan is linked to this summary. Please note: this safety plan provides operational guardrails, specifying important details such as cohorts, physical distancing, and use of face coverings. The safety plan is not a blueprint for how learning actually occurs—we will develop these plans with our grade level teams over the next several weeks.
We remain keenly interested in your questions, comments, and suggestions regarding the safety plan and the future learning model. We welcome a new round to add to the comments submitted on the form earlier this week. Based on that first survey, we already know that there is significant interest in testing options for families, faculty and staff well-being, the timeline for reopening, and ways to integrate students who remain all or mostly remote. To streamline this feedback, please send us your questions here.
If our waiver application is approved, we will lay out a timeline for reopening, including piloting opportunities and forums for answering questions.
