Nueva Math Circle returns with a series of virtual events for the 2021–2022 school year, featuring an engaging lineup of STEM presenters and fun activities! Lower school students are invited to join us for a fun Saturday afternoon of math enrichment and community-building, featuring stellar physics.
Our featured guest presenter will be Athena Brensberger, an astronomy researcher who now advocates for space exploration through her online platform, AstroAthens. The topic for her interactive lesson will be stellar physics: students will compare and contrast different stars and also have fun making a Hertzsprung-Russell (H-R) Diagram. Athena's session on black holes at our virtual Nueva Math Circle last year was a big hit so we're excited to have her back!
We will also have an (optional) online math games activity for the second half of the event; more information coming soon.
There is no cost to attend! As a way of giving back to the community during this time, admission to this year's events will be free of charge.
We ask that you register through Eventbrite using the link above so that we may give our presenters an idea of expected attendance in advance. We will also send an email with the Zoom link, suggested supplies to have on hand, and other key event information to the email address you provide when you register.
