CMI 2 2Perhaps when you hear the word “auction" you think of a hushed room full of serious people holding paddles, bidding on mysterious artifacts. In true Nueva fashion, it should come to no surprise that the Annual Benefit Auction has transformed that model into an fun, inclusive, and community-driven fundraising event.

10 Physics Physics

Every February, the United States Association for Young Physicists (USAYPT) releases four physics problems for which high school students spend a year preparing solutions and then present at a tournament the following January. This year, for the first time, Nueva sent a team of four students — Peter A., Tobias B., Cameron W., and Andrew Z. — to compete against teams from twelve other schools across the U.S. and abroad.

“Parenting is one of the hardest jobs in the world, but also one of the most rewarding,” said Dr. Laura Markham as she addressed a crowd of parents and teachers gathered in the Bay Meadows gym at the recent Common Ground Speaker Series event, Peaceful Parents, Happy Kids. “As a parent of a strong-willed child, I understand the struggle with showing unconditional love and acceptance of our kids, while still needing to teach them to be successful in the real world.”

10 TMW Hero 24 TMW MS Friday DSC05364Friday was a special day at Nueva, as our lower school teachers spent the day deep in conversations with families during parent conferences and we welcomed over thirty-five Chinese exchange students to our middle school classes.

Over the last two weeks, twenty-five Nueva students in grades 3–8 participated in the preliminaries of the National Geographic Bee, an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society.
