STEM Fair 2018

On Sunday, March 18, nearly 1,200 visitors traveled to Nueva's upper school campus for the annual STEM Fair. This year's program offerings included partnerships with the San Mateo Astronomical Society, Virtual Reality Experience, GoBabyGo!, and iD Tech Camps. From marble runs and human generated electricity to science raps and the amazing poster pavilion, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

This year, a committee of Nueva parent volunteers led by Allie Yun, Monika Schoenhoff, and Tin-Na Kan, with student co-chairs Natalie F. and Elise M., who worked diligently to recruit student and faculty volunteers, suggested content and programming, moderated the STEMcast talks, and even organized a Climate Change Panel. Members of the Nueva community — former and new — came out to enjoy all of the incredible STEM offerings put together by our faculty, students, and their families.

"The depth and creativity displayed in all of the exhibits as well as the cooperation and collaboration demonstrated by all who participated, was just overwhelming," said STEM Fair Co-Chair Allie Yun. "It really made me appreciate what an extraordinary community we have here at Nueva."

The STEM Fair is an interactive festival devoted to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM is integrated into the curriculum at Nueva across grades and is highlighted in the upper school curriculum offerings.
