criminalJusticeEighthGradeLast Tuesday, guest speaker W. David Ball, an associate professor at Santa Clara University Law School who teaches in the areas of criminal law, criminal procedure, sentencing, and corrections, spoke to Nueva eighth graders in conjunction with their study of A Lesson Before Dying, a novel by Ernest Gaines. David possesses an extensive background in prisons, reentry, and criminal justice operations, and in November of 2016 he participated in the White House Convening on Criminal Justice Reform. He spoke to Nueva students for an hour about the challenges and possibilities of reform in the criminal justice system.

FS MSathleticsTableTennisNueva Middle School Athletics proudly announces the addition of a pilot program in table tennis for grades five through eight. Table tennis, led by Dalton Lobo Dias, middle school physics teacher and tennis coach, has been a popular Academy for several years.

sixthGradeCulminations COVEROn Friday, January 20, the entire sixth-grade community of students, teachers, and families gathered in the evening for the annual First Semester Culmination, which aims to highlight some of the incredible work the students and teachers completed during the fall.



CN eigthGradeSleepoverFor many years, Nueva eighth graders went on an off-campus retreat each March. With the opening of the Upper School this trip was discontinued. But eighth graders craved time with their classmates and created something new in its place: a sleepover in the mansion!

Banner Week for Nueva BasketballLast week was a banner week for Nueva Basketball, going 5-0 on one day with three MS basketball semi-final playoff wins and two US basketball wins on the road.
