At Nueva, learning has never been just for students. Our mission to inspire lifelong learning encompasses parents and families, teachers and staff. Since 2007, the Innovative Learning Conference (ILC) has been one of the school’s signature events supporting that commitment.

On October 19 & 20, teachers, parents and practitioners from public, charter, and independent schools will gather on both campuses to explore innovative ways to create engaging, cross-disciplinary learning that transcends traditional boundaries and historical barriers in education.

This year’s theme, Blurring Boundaries, “recognizes the need to move away from silos in how we think about education,” said Kathleen Donohue, ILC co-chair. “The classroom walls are falling down in favor of interaction with the real world, and that is just one of the changes the ILC speakers will address.”

More than 70 international thought leaders and local experts will share promising practices, inspiring stories, and cutting-edge research across an array of topics including creative and critical thinking, design thinking, wellness, computer science, and social-emotional learning, to name just a few. The speakers include Nadine Burke-Harris, Warren Berger, Heidi Kasevitch, Bernie Roth, and Robert Sapolsky. (Read a more complete speaker list on the ILC website.)

“If, like me, you love what happens in the Nueva classrooms, being part of the ILC will give you an even greater appreciation of the thought and research behind a Nueva education, and the impact it can have far beyond the Nueva campus,” said ILC Co-Chair Patricia Love.

October may seem far in the future, but in past years as many as 1,200 people have attended and early registration is recommended. Register now to make sure you have a spot on the path of lifelong learning.
