After a successful fall sports season — culminating with a second-place finish for the middle school golf team this week at the WBAL tournament, ahead of Sacred Heart and Menlo Schools — the days are getting shorter, there’s a chill in the air, and students are suiting up in their jerseys and cleats to begin the winter sports season.

The boys’ varsity soccer team graduated only one senior last year, so they are happy to have almost an entire roster of returning players. With their first game against Terra Nova High School on Friday, December 1, the team is hoping to qualify for the postseason this year.

The girls’ varsity basketball team advanced to the CCS tournament last year, and players are confident they can repeat that success again this year when their season begins on Tuesday, November 28, against Jewish Community High School.

After graduating five seniors last year, including four starters and two team captains, the boys' varsity basketball team looks to talented, up-and-coming sophomores and juniors to lead the team to further postseason success like last season, when the team made it to the quarterfinal game of the CCS Division 5 tournament. Their first game is Wednesday, November 29, against Eastside College Prep.

In the Middle School, the early winter season has already begun for the girls’ soccer and boys’ basketball teams. This week, the JV girls’ soccer team won their first game 3–0 against Castilleja, and the boys’ varsity basketball team beat Sacred Heart Prep on the road. “It was a great win and a great start to the season,” said Amrit.

The late winter season transitions to girls’ basketball and boys’ soccer in January for middle school players.
