Nueva Receives California Green Ribbon Award on Earth Day
Rachel Freeman

We are honored to announce that on Earth Day, April 22, Nueva was named a recipient of the 2020 California Green Ribbon Schools Gold award. This recognition is awarded to schools and districts that demonstrate excellence in resource efficiency, health and wellness, and environmental and sustainability education.

"The Green Ribbon School Gold award is as much a reflection of Nueva's strong tradition in environmental education and stewardship as it is a reminder of the obligation we have to prepare our students to become well-rounded and active environmental citizens," said Director of Environmental Citizenship Tanja Srebotnjak. "I'm so happy to share this award with our entire community and especially our curious, passionate, creative students, some of whom, I'm sure, will lead the way and solve some of the vexing environmental challenges we face."

Anti-racist Communications Strategy Sessions Sets the Foundation for Antiracist Storytelling at Nueva

Following the murder of George Floyd in May, we began to talk about how to ensure we were communicating on Nueva platforms in anti-racist ways. We put out a statement, like many other institutions, affirming our school’s belief in the importance of antiracist work and working toward racial justice.
