Meet Tanja Srebotnjak, Nueva’s first Director of Environmental Citizenship. How will her work support our future environmental stewards? Hear from Tanja herself! She describes what her new role and Nueva’s forthcoming environmental center will mean for our students.

Before coming to Nueva, Tanja was the Hixon Professor for Sustainable Environmental Design at Harvey Mudd College, where she also launched the Hixon Center for Sustainable Environmental Design. She holds a PhD in environmental statistics and policy from Yale and previously worked at the United Nations, the National Resources Defense Council, and a German environmental think tank. She is passionate about advancing environmental literacy at every age and in every community!

Anti-racist Communications Strategy Sessions Sets the Foundation for Antiracist Storytelling at Nueva

Following the murder of George Floyd in May, we began to talk about how to ensure we were communicating on Nueva platforms in anti-racist ways. We put out a statement, like many other institutions, affirming our school’s belief in the importance of antiracist work and working toward racial justice. But we knew that one statement one time was not enough; this was going to be ongoing work in which we needed to engage, a lens through which all of our work was put.
