Lower School Expedition
Welcome to Lower School Expedition
Thank you to everyone who participated in Lower School Expedition! More information about our 2019 offerings will be available soon.
Please explore the 2018 offerings below:
We are excited to return for our second summer of Lower School Expedition! Last year, campers enjoyed diving deep for a week into a thematic interdisciplinary study that included explorations in art, math, literature, creative movement, science, and Design Thinking.
This summer, our lower school campers can only join us for a maximum of two weeks of programming.
Here is a schedule of our offerings, followed by a short preview of what to expect:
Outer Limits (Week A):
What are the challenges and surprises that come with traveling into unknown spaces? We’ll explore the challenges of traveling into the unknown and meeting characters who are pushed to the outer limits of what is known and familiar to them.
Open to campers entering grades 1–4 during the weeks of 7/2 or 7/16!
Close Encounters (Week B):
What are the challenges and surprises that we find much closer to home? As part of our thematic study, we will explore the possibilities for biomimicry —innovation inspired by nature. We’ll also consider the intersection between with nature and humans.
Open to campers entering grades 1–4 during the weeks of 7/9 or 7/23!
Details of the program will be coming in the next few weeks. However, each day will be organized into blocks of time devoted to Lit Club, Art/Engineering Challenges, Community Building, Math Games, Scientific Deep Dives, Design Thinking, and Dance/Movement.
The team, led by Lora Saarnio, is meeting each week, developing a formal structure and lesson plans.
