Recognized for over 50 years as a world leader in innovative and gifted education, our PreK–12 program continues to develop exciting, meaningful programs and pedagogy. This dynamism and growth has created many employment opportunities at Nueva for talented faculty, staff, and administrators.

Nueva teachers are lifelong learners, passionate about their subjects, and dedicated to teaching gifted learners. They are collaborative creators who embrace Nueva’s commitment to providing integrated, hands-on, project-based learning for all students. They are invested in differentiating learning to meet the needs of all students, and they join with all adults in the Nueva community to support student and community well-being.

We are seeking applicants who represent the full diversity of our community in the Bay Area. Thank you for your interest in the Nueva School!

Employee Spotlights

Rashida Blade

Lead Kindergarten Teacher, faculty member since 2019

"I enjoy working at Nueva because I am constantly inspired by my students. Their wonders spark my own creativity as I develop emergent curriculum."

Jen Caputo

Administrative Assistant, staff member since 2019

"At Nueva, I enjoy the reward of being able to support not only my colleagues, but the students, too, and knowing I'm making a difference. This community regularly reminds me of valuable life lessons, such as enjoying life's simple pleasures, that it's good to be curious and take risks, and to have fun and be different."

Sam Arndtsen

Middle School Humanities Teacher, faculty member since 2013

"What I love about working at Nueva is the diversity of experiences I may have on any given day—from having a deep conversation in my morning humanities class with a student who is conducting an independent research project, to meeting with a colleague over lunch who is also iterating her systems for assessment and feedback, to exploring the language of birds on the Tanahana Trail in the afternoon with my Nature Journaling elective. The level of creativity, growth, and fun that I get to experience each day keeps me coming back year after year."

Sushu Xia

Upper School History Teacher and Quest Coordinator

"I love that the students and teachers here have such energy in pursuing learning, and treat each other with immense kindness. I feel like I can bring all of myself to campus—my nerdy hobbies, my queer Asian identity, and my love for flannel shirts. I also love the responsive, thoughtful environment; if I see a way to improve an aspect of Nueva, I can just start a conversation about it."

Colin Tribble '04

Middle School Humanities Teacher and 7th Grade Dean, faculty member since 2010

"Nueva’s a school that values faculty being empowered to try new things, to be innovative, to make change. To be in conversation with colleagues around the same issues and opportunities is immensely valuable."

Katie Saylor

Director of Enrichment and Summer Programs, faculty member since 2016

"What draws me to this community is the intellectual curiosity and commitment of my colleagues. Every day I learn something new from my peers (not to mention how much I learn from the students!) and this pushes me to bring my best self in return."
