• The Wechsler IQ assessment is one of the first steps in our application process. Please contact a licensed psychologist to schedule your child's IQ assessment. For your convenience, here is a list of licensed psychologists who administer these assessments in our area. This is not an exhaustive list; we accept reports from any licensed psychologists.
   
• Review our IQ Assessment Guidelines for Families and send the signed Release Form and the Submissions Guidelines for Psychologists form to the administering psychologist. 
   
• A child's IQ assessment results must fall within our target range to be considered for admission. To learn more about the IQ assessment and our target range, visit our IQ Assessment (PreK–8) page.
   
• Complete and submit the Application for IQ Assessment Financial Assistance Voucher if you'd like to request financial assistance for the IQ assessment. Make sure to submit the Family Information Form on Ravenna before applying for assistance. Vouchers are valid only for psychologists included on our Psychologist Resource List. 

• This is an opportunity for you to share more about your child—their personality, interests, strengths, and how they engage with the world. Your responses give us valuable context as we get to know your child and family. 

• Please note that this step will not appear before October, even if the prerequisites listed below are completed earlier.
   
• Kira is the platform we use to host the Parent/Guardian and Student Video Questionnaire.
   
• You and your child will be asked to record short video responses to a few questions about your family. The system will guide you through each step, and you’ll have time to prepare before recording. You’re welcome to complete the questionnaire in one sitting or take breaks and return to it whenever it’s convenient for you.
   
• Beginning in October, once you’ve completed the prerequisites listed below, the Parent/Guardian & Student Video Questionnaire step will appear in Ravenna. That step includes a personalized link to complete the questionnaire in Kira.

PREREQUISITES

• Family Information Form submitted
• In-range IQ assessment results submitted

• Applicants will spend time on our campus engaging in hands-on collaborative activities led by Nueva faculty and staff, and will also complete a timed writing sample. These sessions are offered from November to January. 
   
• After the prerequisites listed below are complete, the applicant will be registered for this event.

PREREQUISITES

• IQ Assessment determined by Nueva to be in range to continue in the application process
• Family Information Form submitted

If the prerequisites are met by November 3, applicants are guaranteed an opportunity for an in-person Activity Session. Applicants who meet the prerequisites after November 3 will be scheduled for an Activity Session as availability allows.

• The Student Written Questionnaire is a chance for us to hear directly from the applicant and learn more about them. 
   
• The Nueva Creative Project is an open-ended opportunity to creatively express whatever best captures an applicant's passion using any medium that they choose. Refer to this How-To Guide for a better understanding of what we're looking for. 

• The following forms are required and must be completed and submitted through Ravenna directly by your child's current school:
  • Confidential current principal or counselor recommendation form
  • Confidential teacher recommendation forms
    • 2025–26 previous core subject teacher
    • 2026–27 current core subject teacher
  • Transcripts:
    • 2025–26 grades and standardized test scores (that are a part of a student's cumulative file)
    • 2026–27 first trimester or first semester grades when they become available (usually late January)
       
• Nueva considers only required application materials and evaluations, so we respectfully request no additional documents be submitted on behalf of a student or their family. Additional letters of support, including those from current Nueva community members, will not be added to a student's application.
