On Monday, October 8, the eleventh annual Nueva Cup Golf Tournament was held at Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae. The weather conditions were ideal as nearly 60 parents, alumni, alumni parents, relatives, students, teachers, and friends of Nueva enjoyed a day of camaraderie, fun, and friendly competition benefitting the Nueva School.

Congratulations to our 2018 Nueva Cup winners Joe Arron, Phil Pemberton, Colin S. (grade 9), Luke P. (grade 11), and Jack B. (grade 11) with a team scramble score of 55 — a new Nueva Cup record low score. There was no doubt about the "Closest to the Pin" contest as Joe Arron won that handily with a hole-in-one — way to go Joe! The "White Tee Long Drive" contest was won by Mike Mengarelli and the "Red Tee Long Drive" contest was won by Nueva sixth grader James L. A "Chairman's Long Drive" award was given to John Henrikson for traveling the longest distance to get to the tournament — all the way from The Hague! Please visit the Nueva Facebook page to see photos from the event.

Special thanks go out to the Nueva Cup Tee Sponsors, Raffle Prize donors, and the Nueva Cup Committee, Nueva staff, and volunteers who helped make the event so enjoyable for this years' participants! We look forward to another great event in fall 2019 and hope you will be able to join in the fun!

#NuevaTogether: Nueva Steps Up to Support One Another and Greater Community

Alegria Barclay

Coming together as a community is critical in combating any kind of discrimination, particularly when it arises from fear and ignorance. As Asian American activist groups began to respond to this current manifestation of racism, I focused on new ways I could stand up for my community, against ignorant or hateful acts targeting Asian Americans.

Remote Learning Roundtable: The World Post Covid-19

In honor of Earth Day 2020, Alegria Barclay, Aron Walker, Patrick Berger, and Tanja Srebotnjak organized a roundtable: “The World Post Covid-19: Opportunities for Social Justice and Environmental Resilience.”

Nueva’s Spring Break Classes Beat Boredom

This year’s spring break presented unusual challenges for families across the nation and around the world, as parents simultaneously juggled working from home and homeschooling their children. The Nueva community hit the reset button as well, and quickly put a plan in place to offer a first-ever spring break program.

Teaching Art During Remote Learning

Art is one of the disciplines that most heavily relies on materials. Nueva art teachers, faced with this challenge, have created engaging art projects for our students to work on in this new learning environment.
