Nueva is the only school where I have heard students say, "I wish we didn't have summer vacation, because I love school!" Part of that I attribute to the multitude of resources Nueva has -- the dedicated faculty and staff, the well-appointed classrooms, the extraordinary field trips, and an attentive parent association. I have worked in classrooms at a variety of public and private schools from preschool to high school, but not one school besides Nueva has taught kids specific SEL skills like Nueva does. When students learn skills to manage their emotions, interact cooperatively, and appreciate differences rather than mock them, the entire learning community can grow exponentially.
