Instrumental Music Print E-mail
Thumbnail imageNueva students may choose to participate in our outstanding instrumental music program. In addition to general music and chorus classes, professional musicians from around the Bay Area offer individual instruction on many musical instruments during and after school hours. Many of these teachers are nationally recognized in their field. We work with families to help young students choose an instrument and teacher, and then collaborate with homeroom teachers and advisors to schedule weekly lessons during the school day.

This year, about 40% of our students study violin, piano, guitar, flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, percussion, trumpet, and voice. In recent years, Nueva students have also studied bass guitar, cello, and musicianship.

Student instrumentalist who demonstrate a high degree of musical potential, competency, and talent, are eligible for the prestigious Menuhin/Dowling program. Acceptance into the program is by audition only and is currently offered in piano, guitar, violin, flute, and trumpet.
