USAthletics Feb2017Parents, coaches, fans, and classmates came together this week to celebrate senior members of the Varsity basketball and soccer teams. In their final home games of the regular season, senior athletes were honored during pre-game ceremony introductions, accompanied by parents and family members, and presented with flowers from the athletic department.

USathletics 02.03.2017Building off the momentum of highly successful fall and winter seasons, Nueva’s Upper School athletics program launches spring sports this week. Teams taking to the field include: Boys’ Tennis, Co-ed Track & Field, Girls’ Softball, and Boys’ Golf. Tennis will field both a Junior Varsity and Varsity squad for the first time this season, with close to 30 students participating. We are also excited to announce the new addition of co-ed Swimming & Diving to this spring’s line-up.

sensorPrototype COVERAfter returning from their trip to Costa Rica in 10th grade, US students Erik M. and Matthew M. saw an opportunity to help biologists and developed a prototype sensor to improve the labor-intensive process of collecting temperature data. The two students describe the project in their own words:

CN volunteerDayOnNueva tenth grader Sophia Y. and twelfth grader Meera S. participated in a planting at San Bruno Mountain through the San Mateo County Parks Department Stewardship Corps last Monday.

US ConcertThe US Holiday Concert was filled with cheer as students in the Sound Waves class, Sound Waves Club, and the US House Band all performed classical holiday and rock songs for the community. Students came together to dance and show off their school spirit. A high note of the event was when Assistant Head of Upper School Mike Peller wore a tutu and danced as the sugar plum fairy while students sang Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.
