lifer dinner hero

On Monday, June 5, Nueva recognized thirteen graduating seniors who started school at Nueva in preK, kindergarten, or first grade. Over a lovely dinner, students, their families, and faculty shared an evening of reflection and admiration.

The night started with pure joy as the students pored over projects, scrapbooks, photographs, and yearbooks displayed by the faculty. Kim Saxe brought posters showing their brainstorming to choose a study theme in kindergarten, while Cynthia Kosut, Middle School Humanities Teacher, brought in students’ “STARPAP” projects, a challenging capstone completed by the students at the end of their eighth-grade year. Surprise and delight spread as students encountered themselves from years past and excitedly shared pieces with one another and their families.

During the evening, each student was honored by three teachers, one each from lower, middle, and upper divisions. Students could feel the affection the faculty held for them. Later in the program, the students told touching anecdotes that expressed their appreciation for the faculty, and especially for Diane Rosenberg, Head of School, who has led Nueva since these students arrived.
