10 Robotics robotics

Putting into practice Nueva’s motto to “Learn by Doing, Learn by Caring,” the SharkBytes, the middle school robotics team, earned the Motivate Award at the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) for demonstrating cooperation during competition this past November.

10 WeekendPromo P2110008For the past two years, Nueva has hosted three fun-filled, exploratory weekends of learning in partnership with Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development.

In October, we expanded the offerings to include programs for students in grades 3–8.

11 ForVLPArticle 17 NinthGradeVLP DSC03398A new round of Visible Learning Project posters are now displayed in locations at all three divisions. The projects feature preK through first-grade students learning in the garden, our seventh-grade students’ interdisciplinary study of global commodities, and the ninth-grade English students’ creative response to their recent exploration of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.

Annual Benefit Auction Ebanner 2On Saturday, March 24, 2018, Nueva’s Annual Benefit Auction will return to Hillsborough for an evening of fun, fundraising, and community-building. This year the theme is “Beyond the Yellow Brick Road,” and volunteers are creating a beautiful, celebratory event.

10 Hero Field Trip TMW Hero 39 Food Systems IMG 7299On Thursday, November 9, eighth-grade students set out on five unique field trips aimed at examining food systems from a social, economic, and environmental perspective.

During the day, students were tasked with using their observations and experiences to evaluate a series of problems and the viability of several possible solutions.
