10 Hero Field Trip TMW Hero 39 Food Systems IMG 7299On Thursday, November 9, eighth-grade students set out on five unique field trips aimed at examining food systems from a social, economic, and environmental perspective.

During the day, students were tasked with using their observations and experiences to evaluate a series of problems and the viability of several possible solutions.

For example, while visiting Ouroboros Aquaponics Farm in Half Moon Bay, one group of students were asked to consider the question, “How can farmers grow the most delicious and nutritious plants?”

Over the next few weeks, students will be immersed in an interdisciplinary, international food security project that builds upon the foundation of the ideas and work they observed during Thursday’s field trips.
