For five weeks this summer, the Hillsborough campus was buzzing with activity as nearly 1,700 campers in grades K–12 took part in a variety of camps designed to capture their interests while keeping them active and intellectually engaged.

This year, Nueva Summer had the participation of thirty school-year faculty in leadership roles. They brought with them the fun and immersive experience of learning at Nueva and inspired campers with their knowledge of words, ecology, writing, American history, and creative storytelling.

The team of Nueva Summer counselors included more than twenty-five alumni and current students. They were models of engagement, curiosity, and empathy as they partnered with lead teachers and the administrative team to welcome students from myriad backgrounds and grade levels.

“I am so grateful to the collective effort and support of this community,” said Jim Morrison, Director of Nueva Summer. “The operations crew and the café staff worked so hard and were an essential part of our team.”

This summer featured several new programs and expanded offerings at each grade level. “Parents and children were blown away by Nueva Expedition. Campers did not want to leave at the end of the day — the conversations and activities were full of creative and curious energy,” said Jim. “The teams we had in place for Nueva Expedition and Upper School Expedition truly knocked it out of the park in terms of creating rich and accessible content for their eager and engaged campers.”

Nueva Summer will go on sale in January. Look for more information about their 2018 offerings in the months ahead.
