ILCThis October, Nueva will present the 2017 Innovative Learning Conference. Held every two years, the ILC brings together educational thought leaders, teachers, and parents from Northern California and around the world. You’ll find details and the list of speakers (still being added to) on the ILC website

This year’s theme is “Blurring Boundaries.” Speakers and break-out sessions will explore what it means — and what it takes — to create impactful learning experiences that transcend traditional boundaries in education, boundaries that have separated local and global communities, public and private institutions, the arts and STEM fields, wellness and academic learning, to name just a few.

New this year will be our own boundary blurring, as visual recorders turn words into pictures. Five “visual practitioners” will be on hand to visually record some of the speakers’ presentations, and will work with attendees to help them understand how to incorporate visual thinking into their classrooms. Everyone will have the opportunity to express themselves visually on graffiti boards set up around campus.

The ILC is part of Nueva's outreach mission to share content and pedagogical learning with the broader community of educators and learners. Thanks to the support of our sponsors and donors, registration fees are kept low, and professional development grants are available for educators from under-resourced schools. Attendees — primarily teachers — come from a broad range of public and private schools. Other participants include administrators, parents, education innovators, advocates, consultants, and service providers.

The conference will be held on October 19 and 20, 2017. October 19 is reserved for educators, but Friday is open to educators, parents, administrators, and others.

Don’t wait — register today for the 2017 ILC. Feel free to share this information with teachers, administrators, and parents from other schools. If you have questions, please contact Sarah Hill or ILC Co-Chairs Kathleen Donohue and Patricia Love.
