CN Nueva SummerOur students are heading out on trips, near and far, the sun is shining, and remarkably, summer is right around the corner! The Nueva Summer team is very excited about their 2017 program hosted at Hillsborough from June 26 - July 28.

“We have something for everyone this year — K-12. We put a lot of effort into creating options that our campers would be genuinely excited about,” explained Jim Morrison, director of Nueva Summer. “I think the ability we provide families to customize an experience tailored to each individual child is something that sets us apart from other camps on the Peninsula.”

“That and our incredible staff!” adds Lelia Youn, who is leading Nueva Summer with Jim this year. “Over 30 Nueva educators, students, and alumni are joining the Nueva Summer team in our core program, half-day intensives, and new Expedition programs. We know that their presence will maintain the creative and intellectual spirit of Nueva’s ‘Learn by Doing, Learn by Caring’ motto.”

The Nueva Summer team hopes that families looking for fun and engaging opportunities to do for a week or two this summer will visit the website, be in touch with questions, and register to take part in one of their programs.

The summer team also shared that, for families that are new to Nueva and have children starting in the fall, Nueva Summer is a great way to get to know the campus and, most likely, some of their teachers and community members before school gets started.

At each grade level, K–8, Nueva Summer has space remaining in camps related to design thinking, mathematical explorations, art, outdoor education, and creative storytelling. Additionally, there is still space in several of our half-day intensives, lead by Nueva staff, that are designed to allow campers opportunities for learning with depth and complexity.

“We are so excited to bring Upper School students into the camp this summer through our Upper School Expedition program — two one-week sessions focused on World War I and World War II. Campers entering grades 9 – 12 will have the opportunity to work with an incredible team of Upper School teachers. We still have some room in the program and hope that families will register for the program and invite a friend to join them for a week or two,” said Jim.
