CN ArtsAppreciationDuring the last week of April, the entire Nueva community celebrated Arts Appreciation Week with the support of the NPA, our art and music teachers, and parent and student communities. While the week featured many opportunities for the community to come together around art, music, and artistic expression, the incredible artwork of our PreK–12 students shined the brightest.

Throughout the hallways and common spaces at Nueva, student artwork was on display for the community to enjoy. From Egyptian sarcophagi tied to the third-grade curriculum to scaled-up models of everyday items created by freshmen, the artwork was a reflection of the students’ varied interests and demonstrative of the progression of skills and experience found in Nueva artists over time.

The weeklong artstravaganza featured guest speakers, gallery walks, and creative workshops held on both campuses. Student bands played during lunch and parents joined in the fun, leading art-making sessions and cultural explorations that were open to all students. A special art installation was also designed and donated by a parent, Dominika Blackappl.

Two contests, Design-A-Maze and Design-A-Comic, kicked off Arts Appreciation Week. Students' submissions are being published in books that will soon be available in the library for the community to explore.

A huge thanks to all teachers, parents, and students who helped make Arts Appreciation Week a success!
