MS Silk Road Culmination Dec2016

Every year in the Middle School, seventh and eighth grade students participate in culminations that celebrate student work and creativity and that highlight cross-disciplinary projects.

As Middle School Assistant Head Carla Pugliese puts it, culminations “are transformative not only because they render our campus as grand bazaars and entrepreneurial showcases, but because students explicitly step into the role of expert, teaching their classmates, teachers, and parents what they have explored, discovered, and created.” This Tuesday, seventh and eighth graders became merchants, scholars, artists, cooks, and musicians at a grand Silk Road Bazaar. They sold their wares and shared their knowledge, participated in panel discussions on important historical Silk Road figures, and transformed the middle school campus into the trade city of Tashkent in 753 A.D.
