10 HourOfCode IMG 3146Last week, Nueva first and third graders joined millions of students around the world for an Hour of Code, a global movement to demystify computer science. As part of the worldwide Computer Science Education Week, the Hour of Code aims to broaden participation across gender, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups to show that computer science can be fun, creative, and accessible for all ages regardless of background.

Nueva students were tasked with creating a “Nueva Doodle” in the program Scratch, a visual programming site for children. With the help of teachers and parent volunteers, students enjoyed coding together and learning by doing.
