Every year, students across divisions take part in the creation of gifts for Nueva’s annual auction. While the primary purpose of these gifts is to raise funds for student financial aid and teachers’ professional development, the value of these gifts starts with the rich learning experiences that go into the making of each and every project.
For example, this year’s first-grade students had to combine math, art, and design thinking to create new board games that will be part of a permanent installation on the Ballet Lawn at the Hillsborough campus (see our video to learn more). The fifth-grade students spent weeks studying endangered species and translating their research into a beautiful, gold-leaf artwork. The PreK gift will showcase months of deep exploration into the function and making of cars.
Come see the depth of learning for yourself. Starting Monday, March 13, class gifts will be on display at the Hillsborough campus in the Mansion Ballroom. This year, class gifts from PreK, Kindergarten, and second through fourth grade, along with “student treasures” contributed by members of the upper divisions, will be available for bidding on the online auction. Gifts from the first and fifth grade class will be part of the live auction on Saturday, March 25.
