Music
Music Philosophy and Overview
The Nueva School's respected music program offers students unique exposure to a variety of high-quality musical opportunities, including vocal music, instrumental lessons, ensembles, electives, and general classroom instruction. Students learn about music from around the world as they participate in programs that emphasize performance, musical literacy, skill development, historical importance, and cultural context.
Our Nueva music faculty and private-lesson instructors are nationally recognized experts, and all bring unique, performance-based instruction to student vocalists and instrumentalists. From Lower School's chorus program to Middle School music electives, Nueva students benefit from a strong foundation in the musical arts and can go as deep as their individual interests inspire them.
Menuhin Ensembles Visit Sunrise Assisted Living
On Thursday 3/26/2009, Menuhin violin instructor and Director of The Nueva String Ensemble, Sin-Tung Chiu, brought two small Menuhin ensembles of violin-piano duos to meet with and perform for the Seniors at Sunrise Assisted Living in Belmont, CA. The duos included 5th graders Arianna and Brunston, and 8th grader Kimberly with 6th grader Sarah. Kathi Beerbohm provided gracious hospitality, with certificates and ice-cream, which was much appreciated by all.
