Being a Parent at Nueva
Parents are a vital part of the Nueva Community! The Nueva Parents Association (the NPA) is active in the daily life of the school: “To support the continuing development of a healthy and meaningful learning community within a context of respect, honesty, openness and inclusiveness.” With this as its mission, the NPA, through its wonderful parent volunteers, administers numerous programs and events each year that enrich the community. From the beloved first day of school Tea on the Plaza to the end of year Ice Cream Social, parents lead, host, volunteer, decorate, celebrate, organize, support, drive, bake, build, donate, and join. The Nueva Administration welcomes and appreciates this involvement and partners with parents to bring the best possible educational experiences to Nueva students. All parents and guardians of current Nueva students are the members of the NPA, which is managed by an elected Executive Committee who serve two year staggered terms. From Our Director, Diane Rosenberg: “Our parents are nothing short of extraordinary! Their daily contributions make so many programs and events possible. They make our teachers feel valued and respected for the gifts they give our children, they bring to life many programs and events, and build community through their passion for Nueva. Whether it is helping out in the classroom, volunteering at our Math, Science & Technology Fair, taking part in our marvelous Benefit Auction, making costumes, leading a Lit Club, providing dinner to appreciate faculty members, adding knowledge and expertise to a committee or task force, or one of the other thousands of ways to be involved, Nueva parents are an essential element of our success. They are a vital part of our community, as their special gifts and unique talents enrich our community every day, in so many ways. For that we are truly grateful!”
