5Q4 Gina RuizGina was born and raised just across the Bay in Hayward. She and her husband have been married for 25 years, and she has two children — a stepson who just turned 31 and a daughter who just turned 25. Both her children work and live in the outskirts of Los Angeles and love it there, but they enjoy having a place to stay with family in the Bay Area now that their parents have moved back.

Before coming to Nueva, Gina was the site secretary for an elementary school in the Temecula area (south of Los Angeles) for 10 years. She and her husband moved from Southern California back to the Bay Area with his current employer in October 2016. She forgot how much she missed the rain and how green it is here. When it’s not raining, she and her husband are having fun exploring the beautiful outdoors.

1. What do you do at Nueva?

I am working the front desk at this time helping our Nueva community on a daily basis. Everyone here has been so nice and has made me feel very welcome.

I like to spend my free time OUTDOORS. I enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking etc.

3. What is something that people might find surprising about you?

I am a grandma! My stepson and daughter-in-law have blessed us with two beautiful grandchildren.

4. What do you like to read?

I enjoy travel magazines and learning about the next place I’d like to visit.

5. If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

I’m not sure if this would be a superpower, but I’d love to be able to time travel.
