The visual arts are an integral part of educating the whole child. Through a Nueva arts education, our students learn to:

  • Appreciate art, recognize its different forms, grow in artistic intelligence, and experience the arts' many sociocultural contexts

  • Create art utilizing a variety of materials and art forms and develop the skills of the practicing artist

  • Create windows to look inside themselves, identifying artistic passions, learning how to express feelings, and developing confidence through exploration and mastery

  • Make connections with others in performance and exhibition, and develop connections to mentors and community arts organizers

Students grow to see themselves as capable artists, and they experience, appreciate, and assess the vast world of historical and contemporary visual art.
