Diversity at Nueva

WE BELIEVE diversity is essential to achieving our mission of educating gifted children to make choices that will benefit the world. Gifted youth are present in every socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, sexual orientation, and racial group and in families with diverse structures. They bring diverse gifts and talents to the Nueva community. Nueva believes that the best education occurs when students, faculty, staff, and families are able to share their talents in a community drawn from all of these backgrounds. We are dedicated to building and sustaining a community that welcomes and celebrates diversity.

WE COMMIT to finding, welcoming, and nurturing gifted children and their families from diverse backgrounds. We are dedicated to attracting and retaining world-class faculty and staff who mirror our institution’s beliefs and values. The Nueva community actively seeks better ways to support our members through community conversations on diversity, professional development, and tuition assistance.

WE NURTURE diversity in our classrooms through curricula that explore multiculturalism, globalization, and inclusiveness through an emphasis on social and emotional learning. Our curriculum emphasizes empathy as critical to creative solutions and leadership. The collaborative learning we teach honors each individual’s voice. We inspire children to know themselves, be themselves, and express themselves.

WE RECOGNIZE that cultivating an inclusive diverse community is a complex and ongoing process. We encourage and value honest conversations and believe they strengthen our community and enrich the experiences of our students, teachers, staff, and parents. We promise to continue to evaluate our policies and practices in order to realize our goals of diversity and inclusion at Nueva.
